Negotiation & Covid Impacts
JFCS
AFSCME Local 1739 reached a tentative agreement with Jewish Family and Children’s Service on Wednesday, August 24th. The tentative agreement will be distributed to the JFCS membership for their ratification after the Labor Day weekend.
SPIN COVID MODIFICATION
On Thursday, August 25th, the union membership of Special People in Northeast (SPIN) ratified a modification to their collective bargaining agreement. SPIN negotiated with the union for mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for all new employees. Current employees who are fully vaccinated shall receive a ten (10%) percent increase to their base wages as of September 1, 2021. There are exemptions for religious and medical reasons.
JEVS/TURN
The Union is currently in talks with both JEVS Human Services and Tenant Union Representative Network (TURN) over COVID-19 vaccination mandates.
As our members are recalled back into their offices, we ask that everyone stay vigilant by following all of the CDC COVID-19 guidelines of social distancing, masks, and frequent hand washing. In most of our contracts, we have language which specifically addresses employers’ obligation to provide a safe and healthy work environment. Please contact your union representative if you feel your workplace is not safe or not following the proper CDC COVID-19 protocols.
